Columbia City Church of Hope seeks to provide a place where people can integrate their various experiences of life through ritual, community, and story. We seek to shape our imagination in the prophetic confidence that God is at work in the world and to practice ways of seeing it.
We have 2 beautiful gardens, one in front of our building and one in the back. This year, we planted pumpkins, kale, chard, lemon cucumbers (and more!) and the bounty was delicious! Do you need a space to get creative in God’s Creation? We are always looking for people who would like to help out, whether that’s by pulling weeds or coming up with ideas of things to plant! Email email@example.com if you are interested in pitching in and helping out!
Housing Justice Action Team
As part of our effort to take concrete action for justice as a community of faith, we meet once a month to talk about how Church of Hope can aid those who are homeless or in danger of being displaced and how we can learn from and work with other organizations around the city who work for justice in housing for all. We have partnered with Mary’s Place in the past to provide emergency shelter to families through their rotating shelter program and are now turning our eyes and work towards advocacy for affordable housing for all.
If you are interested in attending a meeting or joining our Action Team, we meet the last Tuesday of each month from 7pm-8pm. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or want more information!
Immigration Justice Action Team
We meet once a month to develop concrete actions that we as a congregation can take to help further immigration justice in our neighborhood, our city and beyond. Our goals are to contribute both to direct immigration justice action as well as to further policy and advocacy goals that help all of our neighbors thrive, regardless of immigration status or country of origin.
If you are interested in coming to a meeting or joining our Action Team, we meet every 2nd Sunday from 12:30pm-1:30pm (right after our monthly Potluck!). All are welcome! Please contact email@example.com with questions or for more information!
Kids & Race Program
We are partnering with the local organization Kids and Race to offer workshops and resources to help parents and children go beyond the superficial notion of colorblindness in order to see and challenge the ways that white privilege shapes our lives. And this past summer, we hosted our first-ever Vacation Bible School with curriculum written by the Kids and Race team! Check out their website at https://www.talkingrace.org/.
Compass housing alliance
We look forward to partnering with Compass Housing Alliance in the future to build affordable housing and a worship space on the site of our present church building. More information about Compass can be found here: http://www.compasshousingalliance.org/.
Through this community of faith, God offers us the incredible privilege of being the face and hands and feet of God for each other and for this beautiful, hurting world.
If you find a spiritual home at Columbia City Church of Hope, we invite you to consider making a pledge: to commit to a certain amount that feels right for you and giving on a regular weekly or monthly basis. Pledge cards are available each year in autumn, for financial gifts as well as for volunteering of time and energy. You may set up a recurring donation through the secure link on our website.
We are a cooperative kind of community, and we need YOUR help! If you are interested in learning more about opportunities to serve alongside our community, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or signup by clicking on the button below.
