Affordable Housing & More!

Our dream of affordable housing becomes reality…
Building on the legacy of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, which closed in 2010 and gave its land for affording housing and a new church start, Columbia City Church of Hope officially organized as an ELCA congregation in 2017 and is now partnering with El Centro de la Raza on an award-winning six-story development that includes 87 units of affordable family housing, an early childhood learning center, and our new church. The housing is already built and fully occupied; Church of Hope will continue with building out the interior of the new church space as soon as the city approves permits. By partnering with a brilliant local architect (and neighbor) and church members who are highly qualified construction experts donating hundreds of thousands of dollars of their time, Church of Hope is able to build a high quality, well-designed and versatile space that will function not only as a sanctuary, but as a living room for the community — welcoming back 12-step groups, community organizations, live music events, and more.
